Going Beyond Programme

Each week our pupils take part in a rolling programme of activities which are designed to enhance their learning experience beyond the classroom, to encourage them to explore opportunities for enriching their education and to enable them to enjoy working together.

The TKA Going Beyond programme expands our pupils’ horizons through a variety of different activities, projects and pursuits.  It provides students with an opportunity to learn about themselves and others while developing skills that we feel will benefit them as they progress through school and into adult life.

The programme is designed to:

  • build confidence in developing and enhancing a range of skills
  • develop tolerance, understanding and awareness of others
  • enhance leadership attributes in our pupils
  • complement our academic curriculum

Running through the Going Beyond programme are three key strands to deliver objectives that “Go Beyond” our academic curriculum and develop the whole person. All activities will have the objective of delivering aspects of one or more key strands. The three key strands are:

  • Community
  • Character
  • Ambition

The programme evolves from year to year as we evaluate each activities' impact and its place within our Personal Development curriculum. Activities have included Martial Arts, Film Production, Outdoor Education/Leadership skills, First Aid, Debating and Public Speaking, Robotics and Community Outreach.
