Pastoral Support Structures

Each pupil is under the care of a Form Tutor and Head of Year. Heads of Year are supported by a Deputy Head of Year and line-managed by a Head of Key Stage (Assistant Headteacher) as they oversee the academic progress and social development of the pupils in their care.

Form Tutors know their tutees well and work hard to foster a sense of belonging. They have a dedicated slot with their tutees once per half term and on a one-to-one basis through the school's Tutor Conferencing Programme, strategically led and monitored by an Assistant Headteacher. They act as a principal member of staff for the pupils under their care and provide important roles that include:

  • Communicating with parents and carers about their child's wellbeing and progress
  • Celebrating their tutees' notable achievements
  • Challenging behaviours across the school that do not meet the school's high expectations
  • Delivering PSHE or assembly content or discussion opportunities on a range of important and contemporary issues.
