TKA Compete in Borough Athletics

On a rather gloomy and grim Wednesday, The Kingston Academy attended their first ever Kingston Borough Athletics meet. The wet weather and grey skies didn’t dampen the mood for our amazing athletes though! TKA pupils did us proud in every event they entered and provided each other with a tremendous amount of support throughout the competition.
Athlete of the day: Archie H (7Ti and Berners-Lee House)
Archie managed a 3rd place finish in the tightly contested year 7 shot put. He also put in a great performance for his 100m race, just being pipped at the finish line for a finishing place on the podium.

Moment of the day: Freddie M’s (7Cd and Curie House) 1500m race

Freddie showed determination, spirit and heart during his race and it captured the support of the crowd who provided him with a loud chant throughout the race. TKA pupils started the chant with a low level ‘Freddie…….Freddie………Freddie’ as he approached the stands. By the time Freddie was in front of his adoring crowd,  it wasn’t just TKA supporting him but both Surbiton High and Kingston Grammar School, who both joined us as the chant picked up pace with ‘FREDDIE, FREDDIE, FREDDIE, FREDDIE!’ Taken back by this support Freddie looked at the crowd and simply provided us with a gleaming smile and double thumbs up! A great moment of the day that showed the other schools in Kingston how to get the crowd going.
Well done to all involved!
